Author Guideline
 
The manuscript should be prepared exclusively in Microsoft Word doc format version 2010 or later with the font of the Times New Roman size 14-16 for the headings, titles and subtitles size 12 for the main content.  


Structure
Your paper should be compiled in the following order: title page; abstract; keywords; main text, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion; acknowledgments; declaration of interest statement; references; appendices (as appropriate); table(s) with caption(s); figures.
The ethical rules might be follow and an appropriate ethics approval must be presented. The patient's name must not be mentioned in the article. If there is a picture of a patient on the manuscript, her/his eye must be covered with a black line. The principles of medical ethics to humans and/or laboratory animals must be rigorously followed. 
Manuscripts and reviews are confidential materials. The existence of a manuscript under review is not revealed to anyone beyond the editorial staff. All submitted manuscripts are initially reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief for suitability for the journal. Suitable manuscripts are then sent to editorial board members or guest reviewers for peer review. The identities of the reviewers and of the authors are kept confidential.

What to include:
  1. cover letter : The title page should include the full names and affiliations of all authors involved in the preparation of the manuscript. The corresponding author should be clearly designated, with full contact information provided for this person.
  2. A structured English and Farsi abstracts should cover (in the following order): background and objective article, methods (the design and methodological procedures used), the results and conclusions.(word limit 300) * Farsi abstract will be prepared for non-Farsi speakers by publisher editor.
  3. 3-6 keywords selected according to MESH system.
  4. Body of text: Should include Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion. Further information is available in manuscript categories section.
  5. References. Follow the Vancouver reference style for referencing.  You may find the Reference Guideline at here.
  6. 6. Tables and figures should be referred to in text as follows: figure 1, table 1, i.e. lower case. The place at which a table or figure is to be inserted in the printed text should be indicated clearly on a manuscript. Each table and/or figure must have a title that explains its purpose
  7. 7. All authors must upload manuscripts with and without name in the system.
 
Manuscript Type

Original Articles
The manuscript should include the introduction, methods, results, discussion, and conclusion. The ethical approval of the institutional ethics committee needs to be mentioned in the method section of all manuscripts reporting data from studies involving human participants and/ or animals. For clinical trials, a code of registration with the Cochrane or other eligible institute is required and the authors should follow the CONSORT (Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials) Guidelines (www.consort-statement.org).  A maximum of 3000 words of text (excluding abstract, tables, figures, and references), with no more than a total of 5 tables and/or figures and 30 references are permitted. All research articles should have a funding acknowledgement according to the following format, if applicable:
This work was supported by the [funding agency written out in full] (Grant number xxx).
 
Systematic Reviews/Meta-analysis
Manuscripts of a systematic approach to explore the literature, assessing the strength of evidence, synthesizing the findings of individual studies, and interpreting the results could be submitted. A maximum of 4000 words of text (excluding abstract, tables, figures, references, and online-only material), with no more than a total of 4 tables and/or figures and no more than 70 references are permitted. The systematic review registration number is required. Guidelines for Systematic Reviews and meta-analyses are found in PRISMA (www.prisma-statement.org/). All Systematic Reviews and meta-analyses should have a funding acknowledgement according to the following format, if applicable:
This work was supported by the [funding agency written out in full] (Grant number xxx).
 
Case reports/series
Reports of the examination and intervention of a client or a small group of clients with any kind of impairment or disability in specific fields of audiology, occupational therapy, orthotics and prosthetics, optometry, physiotherapy and speech-language pathology could be submitted. Case studies and case series should systematically describe examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention and outcomes, as well as provide insight into clinical decision-making. A maximum of 1500 words of text (excluding abstract, tables, figures, and references), with no more than a total of 5 tables and/or figures and 20 references are permitted.
 
 Special Interest Papers:
 Topics of special interest to Function and Disability journal including but not limited to: topical reviews, theoretical perspectives, reviews of techniques, equipment, or instructional materials.
  
Letters to the Editor:
FDJ welcomes letters that add information to support or refute peer-reviewed   material in previous issues, or make pertinent, evidence-based comments on current issues in any specific fields of audiology, occupational therapy, orthotics and prosthetics, optometry, physiotherapy and speech-language pathology and rehabilitation management.
